OK Dinghy Gold in Dinghy Wave Surfing World Championship in Portugal

During the Dinghy Wave Surfing World Championship yearly taking place during spring in Portugal, Praia da Areia Branca, the OK Dinghy has got hold of the gold medal for overall performance. It has left behind the Finn and Laser as the OK Dinghy’s performance was considerably superior. In disciplines like pure surfing and stability in the swells and big surfs, thanks to its specific construction and closed hull, the OK Dinghy has proven to perform excellently.

The OK Dinghies sailors testified : ‘This is really a great way and new experience of sailing an OK Dinghy. Besides trim and tactics, wave sailing and surfing adds another dimension of getting speed and stability of the boat in very peculiar circumstances. The OK Dinghy is a great boat to sail in all situations, that has been proven today. Next year we will be back to defend our gold !” The OKDIA is now considering of integrating results of various international Dinghy Wave Surfing regattas in the overall OK Dinghy World Ranking as a way to further promote and stimulate the class.
