Galgenweel part of the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) – update
Referring to the previous message concerning the Low Emission Zone impacting the Galgenweel, some more information.
First and for all, the Low Emission Zone has already been introduced in a number of cities in Europe and the main goal is that on the long run each of us can breathe more healthy air. As the city has to start somewhere, a first step is discourage the usage and entry of the most polluting vehicles into the city.
To reduce the impact of the introduction of the Antwerp LEZ, a compensation will be provided to the participants impacted :
- if you are a member of the Belgian OK dinghy assocation, then your LEZ pass will be re-imbursed for 2 days of entry provided you can present a proof of payment
- if you are a member of another national assocation, then your LEZ pass wil be re-imbursed for one day of entry provided you can present a proof of payment
With these measurements, we hope one hand to minimise the impact on the participation of the Belgian Nationals but also on the other hand to make you aware that each of us has his responsibility for the quality of the environment we are living and breathing on a daily basis.
