A word from the president

2023 has been a challenging year,- a pivotal period in the existence of our local class.
The good performances of some of us (Steven, Frederic, Michiel and Paul), plus Marc’s excellent training work with the youngsters to the class has brought a little sunshine during this otherwise dull & grey end to the year.
Let’s put all that behind us; the coming season promises to be much interesting!,- a calendar full of surprises with the “Tour des Lacs” challenge led by a dynamic new team.
Marc’s young recruits (around ten!),- the future of the class,- will take part in the official regattas…
In July, we organize a Belgian ‘Yole OK’ festival with fun racing, music and lots of other good things.
The Belgian OK Dinghy championship returns to the beautiful Plate Taille,- Belgium’s #1 lake,- and with the SNEH club we have learned from past mistakes; this 2024 edition promises to be even better..
A new structure of volunteers has been put in place and we will be able to work effectively so that the OK Dinghy in Belgium remains the attractive craft & class that we all love.
Looking forward to meeting you this season somewhere around the 3 buoys, hopefully with you inspecting my transom!

L’année 2023 à été particulièrement difficile. Elle fut une période charnière dans l’existence de notre classe.
Les bonnes prestations de certains d’entre nous (Steven, Frederic, Michiel et Paul) et l’excellent travail de formation de Marc auprès des jeunes ont apporté un peu de soleil durant cette année terne et grise.
Mais tout cela est derrière nous et la nouvelle saison qui arrive est bien plus engageante !
Le calendrier est plein de bonnes surprises et le “challenge tour des lacs” est dirigé par une nouvelle équipe prometteuse et dynamique.
Les jeunes recrues (une dizaine!) de Marc vont se lancer dans les régates officielles…
Et en juillet, nous mettons sur pieds une fête de la Yole avec régates, musique et plein de bonnes choses.
Le championnat de Belgique revient à la Plate Taille et nous avons appris de nos erreurs, cette édition 2024 s’annonce excellente.
Une nouvelle structure de bénévoles est mise en place et on va pouvoir travailler efficacement pour que la yole OK en Belgique reste le support attractif que nous connaissons tous.
Au plaisir de vous rencontrer cette saison autour de trois bouées !

Het jaar 2023 was bijzonder moeilijk. Het was een cruciale periode in het bestaan ​​van onze klasse.
De goede prestaties van sommigen van ons (Steven, Frederic, Michiel en Paul) en het uitstekende trainingswerk van Marc met jongeren brachten wat zonneschijn in dit saaie en grijze jaar.
Maar dat ligt allemaal achter ons en het nieuwe seizoen dat eraan komt is veel boeiender!
De kalender zit vol goede verrassingen en de “challenge tour des lacs” wordt geleid door een veelbelovend en dynamisch nieuw team.
De jonge rekruten van Marc (een tiental!) zullen deelnemen aan de officiële regatta’s…
En in juli organiseren we een Yole-festival met regatta’s, muziek en veel goeds.
Het Belgisch kampioenschap keert terug naar de Plate Taille en we hebben geleerd van onze fouten, deze editie van 2024 belooft uitstekend te worden.
Er is een nieuwe structuur van vrijwilligers opgezet en we zullen effectief kunnen werken zodat de OK-skiff in België de aantrekkelijke ondersteuning blijft die we allemaal kennen.
Ik kijk ernaar uit u dit seizoen te ontmoeten rond drie boeien!
